Laser projection has opened up exciting new opportunities for projection and is one of the fastest growing sectors in AV today. A laser light source is a solid-state technology using laser diodes to generate light. There are different types of laser projection depending on the level of colours required. Laser projectors do not require lamps to be changed so are relatively maintenance free. The light source can last up to 20,000 hours and in some cases even more. Laser projection can also be used for portrait and 360 degree projection on some models to expand the scope of usage particularly in museums or galleries.
