High Picture Quality and Bright Images

The VPL-EX4 incorporates three high aperture 0.63-inch LCD Panels, offering native XGA (1024 x 768) resolution. A brightness level of 2100 lumens is achieved resulting from the combination of a highly efficient optical system and a 165W lamp.

3LCD Projection System

Because the VPL-EX4 uses a 3LCD projection system, projected images are bright and natural. 3LCD is a projection system using three LCD panels (also known as high-temperature polysilicon or HTPS). This system provides high light transmission and excellent color reproduction. It also provides smooth gradients in dark areas, and even helps prevent color breakup.

Short Projection Distance

The VPL-EX4 comes equipped with a short focal-length lens, which makes it possible to project images from a short distance. For example, an 80-inch image* can be projected from a distance of approximately 2.3 meters (7-1/2 feet).

Quiet Operation (Low Fan Noise)

The VPL-EX4 has a very low fan noise allowing audiences to concentrate on the speaker during presentations. A front exhaust for hot air, avoids discomfort for any one sitting close to the projector.

Quick Start

The quick start facility ensures that presentations or video pictures are projected just 4 seconds after power on or when resuming operation from standby mode.

High-Security (Control Panel Key Lock, Password Authentication System, Security Bar, and Kensington Lock)

The VPL-EX4 has numerous anti theft features to ensure that it is secure in any environment. A control panel lock and password authentication system help prevent unauthorised use of the projector. Whilst a security bar allows owners to attach an optional cable or anti theft chain/wire, up to 10mm in diameter, for additional security and protection from theft. It is also possible to attach a standard Kensington lock.

Useful Remote Commander Unit

The supplied card-type Remote Commander unit can be used to adjust the VPL-EX4 projector settings such as digital zoom and audio volume or to activate APA, picture muting, and picture freeze functions. Also, because IR receivers are located on both the front and rear of the projector, the Remote Commander unit is effective from almost anywhere in the room.

Input Flexibility (Multiscan Converter)

The VPL-EX4 accepts a wide variety of video input signals from standard definition (SD) to high definition (HD), including composite, S-Video (Y/C), and analog RGB/component via the HD D-sub 15 pin interfaces.* In addition, the unit can accept computer signals from VGA up to SXGA+ (1400 x 1050).

Monitor Output

The projector can display the image simultaneously on a large screen and an additional monitor (via the 15 pin D-sub connection), so that the user can face the audience and still see the information being shown.

Digital Zoom Function

The Digital zoom facility allows the user to zoom in on a section of the screen to highlight a particular area of the image or to enable easier reading or viewing of the picture content.

Image Freeze

The freeze function allows the user to temporarily hold the current on screen picture. Useful for capturing difficult to read or moving images. It is also useful to use a holding image while a different input selection is made.

Seven Picture Modes

The VPL-EX4 is designed for use in many environments, and is equipped with 7 pictures modes: Game, Living, Cinema, Dynamic, Natural, Standard and Presentation. These settings enable quick adjustment of the picture for use in different environments. Users can alternatively adjust settings manually to suit individual tastes.

Smart APA (Auto Pixel Alignment)

The smart APA function automatically sizes and adjusts PC images for optimum picture performance, allowing users to concentrate on their presentations.

Vertical Keystone Correction

The 30° keystone correction gives advanced installation flexibility. It is often required where the ceiling is relatively high or where an interactive whiteboard must be installed at a low level.

Multi Language

The OSD menu is available in: - English, Dutch, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Swedish and Norwegian.

RS-232C Control

Connections include an RS-232C port for control of the projector.

Ceiling Mount Design

The VPL-EX4 can be mounted on the ceiling by using the optional PSS-AT8 ceiling bracket. The screw holes in the VPL-EX4 are in the same position as the VPL-EX3 so existing ceiling mounts can still be used.
